A Message from our President...

Howdy!

April was a busy month for Collin County Aggie Moms! We completed three big fundraisers: Family Weekend Boutique, Spring Raffle, and the Golf Tournament. Thank you to all the volunteers who made them a success!

We are now preparing to distribute the fundraiser proceeds among scholarships and student organizations. The scholarship committee received 203 applications this year! The scoring has been completed and they are in the process of notifying the recipients. For the student organizations, CCAM members will be voting on which organizations receive funds.

We also had plenty of social activities to choose from in April. A few of them are highlighted below and more are scheduled in May.

Join us for our May General Meeting when we will recognize May Aggie graduates and this year’s scholarship recipients. We will also be installing next year’s CCAM Board.

Thanks and Gig 'em!

In Honor of Earth Day: All Aggie Swap Meet

CCAM's 4th Annual Golf Tournament

was a success!

Our Golf Tournament was held on Monday, April 24 and we could not have asked for better weather. It was a beautiful day to be outside. Everyone who played and volunteered had a great time, enjoyed the golf, the weather, the company, and the food. We had many teams that have participated in all of our past tournaments join us once again as well as several new teams and players. Even though we had a smaller field of golfers this year, we were still able to net $5000 to put towards scholarships and student organizations. Thank you once again to our sponsors for supporting this tournament, to our golfers for coming out to play, and to our volunteers for making this tournament happen once again. We could not have done this without their generosity.

Thanks & Gig’em

Where do you live?  In McKinney, Texas.

Where did you attend college? I went to East Texas State University Graduated in 90’ with three BS degrees in Biology, Geology and Kinesiology.

Tell us about your kids:  I have three awesome children. Rachel my daughter is 28. She received her BS from SFA with three degrees:  Deaf and Hearing Education, Special Education, and History. She taught for 5 years before deciding to be a full time Mommy to my two grandchildren. Cole my first son is 26 and is Fireman with Cedar Hill Fire Department. He graduated from SFA with a BS in Public Administration with a minor in Psychology. He has a son who is 2 and is a little carbon copy of my son.
Kyle, my little tag along is 20 and is studying Psychology and Spanish. Upon graduating from A&M in 25’ he will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps.

What are your hobbies? My hobbies are simple my CHILDREN!

What is a good book you've read recently? The last thing I read was “Analytical Chemistry of Uranium: Environmental, Forensic, Nuclear, and Toxicological Applications.” Nah, I do not have time to sit down and read. However, I do like to research a lot of different subjects especially anything dealing with science.

What is your most favorite vacation you've ever taken or favorite place you've traveled to? I love going to Ireland. I have been a few times and each time gets better than the last time. I love the scenery and the people.

What is something most people don't know about you?  I am an open book when it comes to people who know me. There’s not much people do not know about me.

What is your favorite thing about Texas A&M? My favorite part about A&M would have to be networking for both present and past students. “Once and Aggie always and Aggie!”

What is some advice you would give a new student at A&M? I would tell new students to get involved. There is something at A&M for everyone.

What is some advice you would give a MOM of a new student at A&M? I would tell new moms to breathe and relax - what you have taught your Aggie their whole life will see them through their college experience. You might not think they were listening but, believe me they were. Be there for them when they call and say they are sad and don't know anyone. Next week they will call you and say they LOVE school and have a lot of friends.
